Mauricio Gonzalez de la Fuente | Founder, Head Earthbark

Mauricio was inspired by his 9 year old daughter to start the Earthbark move-
ment. It all started when, for a school project, she needed to count an event over a period of time. She chose counting tail wags while our dog Lola at rest and at play over a two-minute interval. As you have guessed, the total was zero at rest, but it was a whooping 131 wags at play. Seeing how much energy Lola spends wagging her tail, the conversation turned to harnessing Lola’s wasted energy and then to, well, much lower hanging fruit such as Lola’s overall impact in the environment and the need for us to do something about it, for Lola and for as many dogs as possible.

For the past 17 years, Mauricio has lead marketing, product and business group teams at Microsoft. Over the years, his business cards have included titles such as Education Program Manager for Latin America, Desktop Applications Group Product Manager for Latin America; Entrepreneur in Residence during a stint leading the incubation of a sensor based business co-sponsored by Microsoft Research; Director of Consumer and Small Business Marketing and Acting General Manager for the Windows Business Group in the US as the steward a business and P&L of over one billion dollars.

Through out his professional career, Mauricio has also been also built a track record of community involvement and the arts. Mauricio served 5 years as trustee of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra serving as chair of the education and community engagement committee. More recently, Mauricio serves on the boards of the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra and the Seattle Humane Society helping save countless dogs, cats and all sorts of other rescued companions.

Mauricio ventured into Creative Capitalism by founding Sustaingel, an LLC focused on Rapid Green Business Prototyping™.  Earthbark is its first venture.
